COMMUNITY CLIENT CASE STUDY
Save Tillie Foundation
Asbury Park, NJ
http://www.magicbus.com/savetillie
Organization Profile:
One of America's earliest indoor amusement arcades, where spooky dark rides and fast twirling amusements
thrilled millions of fun seekers for over a century, was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places.
But its fate is still the wrecking ball. This building has been saved time and time again by commendable efforts of
the Save Tillie Foundation. Save Tillie is a volunteer organization of Springsteen fans,
historic preservationists and amusement park aficionados in 27 states, Japan, Australia, Brazil, and throughout Europe.
Pre-MBI Website Status:
The organization had a detailed website but no means to gather email comments. They
wanted a way to reach out and gather support. Another goal was to further engage the related
music community, as well as the community at large for this campaign.
MagicBus.com's Solution:
Using proven methods for issue related comment collection and broad reach announcement
strategies; we were able to quickly gather over 2K emails in support of the preservation of the Palace
Amusements building. We were also to gather support of some larger known artists who mentioned the
project during live shows and supplied data concerning the economic potentials of music tourism. An
initial Internet promotion campaign using well seasoned volunteers was able to reach niche supporter
across the Internet to help in the plight of this building. These letters were organized by date, and
replicated for delivery on CD-Rom to the various executive level legislators including the honorable
Governor of NJ. MagicBus was also responsible for communications with the Governor’s office on
multiple occasions to arrange the exchange of data and assurance of review. Each Letter contained
contact information to communicate should they desired. We feel confident this approach helped bring
additional attention to the Palace Amusement building at a crucial time. Maybe someday we can stand
inside the building again and giggle like we were kids.
Current Status / Followup:
The Building still stands (06-15-03), but its future is still blurry. We can say that the developers
whose original plan was to destroy the building are realizing the significance the building continues to
have. This fantastic group of volunteers continues to persevere. The letters keep coming.
Client Testimonial:
"Magic Bus has redefined the meaning of community
service, combining the heart and conscience of steadfast
activism with the power and reach of the internet. Here's
hoping this bus rolls on, and on, and on."
