Tampa Bay Estuary Program
St. Petersburg, Florida

Organization Profile:
Tampa Bay was designated an "estuary of national significance" by Congress in 1990, paving the way for development of a long-term blueprint for bay restoration through the Tampa Bay National Estuary Program. Tampa Bay is one of 28 estuaries in the National Estuary Program; others in Florida are Sarasota Bay, Charlotte Harbor and Indian River Lagoon.
The Tampa Bay Program is a partnership of Pinellas, Hillsborough and Manatee counties, the cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Southwest Florida Water Management District and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The Program is governed by a Policy Board composed of elected officials and a Management Board of top-level bay managers and administrators -- working with both technical and citizen’s advisory groups.
Pre-MBI Website Status:
The organization had a very small internet presence. They wanted to use the Internet as a means of educating the public on the state of the bay, and community announcements for Tampa Bay and its watershed. As well as make available a means to order their publications online.
MagicBus.com's Solution:
We were able to assemble a mass of information under a navigation system that hasn’t needed revisioning since its original design. Significant growth has occurred over the years, a testament to proper design architecture. Tools were implemented for the staff to manage email communications, online document ordering, discussion boards and mailing lists.
Current Status / Followup:
TBEP has won numerous awards for their website as a recognized leader on using the Internet in the manner they do. We currently are still their trusted partner and first call with any questions they have. We are proud of our continued relationship the Tampa Bay Estuary Program and the great efforts they work hard to achieve.
